SLA models are generated from 3D CAD data by locally curing a
resin using an ultra violet laser. Each section through the model is plotted in
typically 0.1mm layers. A removable lattice is generated to support
areas of the model that would otherwise deform. Generated models
show very good definition with minimal stepping effect. SLA models can be easily
hand finished to produce a smooth surface.
SLA models are ideal when producing complex geometry
or for the production of masters for vacuum or RIM casting. Any build steps
can be easily removed and paint finishes applied.
Subject to the geometry of the component thin wall sections, fine detail, legend and small holes may
all be accurately reproduced.
